Description
In the early 1970s, the late Bhaskar Kulkarni, an authority on folk and tribal art of India, brought the Worli artist Jivya Soma Mase to Ramachandran to show his works. Jivya was still unknown to the world of art. This was also the period when Ramachandran was experimenting with picture books for small children. The simple yet expressive style of Jivya greatly impressed him and inspired him to do this book naming the hero, Jivya. The illustrations are done in the intaglio process of etching helped by artist D. Devraj, and the book was first published by Fukutake Shoten, Japan, in 1982.
